4) Identify one additional scenario you think is important to plan for. Include actions to be taken if the event were to occur. Explain your response in detail.

1)Reboot router.

2)Make sure router has not simply lost its IP lease, and that renewing it does not resolve the issue.

3)Confirm whether the ISP issue is connectivity or DNS by performing a ping and traceroute to both a hostname and an external IP address you have tested before. If only a DNS issue, the ping/traceroute to the hostname will fail, but the IP address will succeed. If it’s a connectivity issue, the traceroute will determine at what network device the connection fails, by its IP address.

4)Call your ISP. Open a ticket with them. Get a ticket number. Request to speak to Tier 2/NOC. Provide them with the IP of the failed device, assuming it belongs to your ISP. Make sure you talk to Tier 2/NOC. Tier 1 will have no idea what you are talking about.

5)Wait for service to be restored.
