The small configuration refer to the stateful firewall. becuase here according to me firewall are aware of various paths of communication and can implement various security schemes if needed. According to the configuration the firewalls are faster and can work well in case of high traffic.
These statefull firewalls are also capable enough to block the unwanted or unathorized access to the system.
