Question

I am having trouble sending my zip files through my email to my instructor. I read on how to do it and it's simple, however he said they are not coming through. Any ideas? He suggested I rename the file to .xyz, and I did but when I zip it, change the name, it turns from a file to opening in Visual Studio which is not what I want. I looked on the apps and couldn't figure out which program to change back to the file folder when you first zip it.It is a file that contains other sub folders as per his instructions so having it opening automatically doesn't work.

Explanation / Answer

The file should be first zipped. Then its file extension needs to be renamed from .zip to .xyz and then it should be emailed to the instructor. When the instructor receives the email and downloads the .xyz file, then he has to rename the file extension again from .xyz to .zip. After that only he will be able to open the zip file using the zip program installed on his machine.
