NOTE:

The purpose of the research paper in project management is to focus on project management topics. Paper must explicitly reference project management concepts to receive full credit. The goal is to conduct a deeper study in the topic "SUCCESSFUL PROJECT TERMINATION" and share one or more applications of the concept(s), and/or sharing of best practices and lessons learned.

The paper must be at-least fifteen (15) pages in length but no more than (20)pages. The paper must incorporate ten (10) or more reference citations. All citations must be in the APA 6th format. The paper must include the following sections: Introduction, Findings, Conclusions, Recommendations, and Lessons Learned

Explanation / Answer

Project termination could be because of two main reasons i.e. termination as project is already completed & is no longer required and unnatural or unanticipated termination due to unforeseen challenges. It is one of the most difficult decision for any company to take as it puts any running project to an abrupt end thereby creating a good amount of economic loss to the company if it has to be terminated all of a sudden. It also causes severe disappointment to all those people who had been associated with that project for a long time. Nevertheless, any project cannot be run for a longer duration if it's not making any profit and does not have any positive future either. Some of the other associated reasons for termination of any project could be as below-

There could be few more reasons which make the project closure inevitable, hence closing the project on a successful note is one of the most desirable things which can be manoeuvred. Some of the points or strategies which could be put in place for a successful project termination are-

Hence it is quite obvious that project termination can be an inevitable thing but closing or terminating the project on a positive note can be easily performed provided it is done through proper channel.
