Corporations are running many Americans prisons, but will they put profits before prisoners?

A grim new statistic: One in every hundred Americans is now locked behind bars. As the prison population grows faster than the government can build prisons, private companies see an opportunity for profit.

This week, NOW on PBS investigates the government's trend to outsource prisons and prisoners to the private sector. Critics accuse private prisons of standing in the way of sentencing reform and sacrificing public safety to maximize profits.

"The notion that a corporation making a profit off this practice is more important to us than public safety or the human rights of prisoners is outrageous," Judy Greene, a criminal policy analyst, tells NOW on PBS.

Companies like Corrections Corporation of America say they're doing their part to solve the problem of inmate overflow and a shortage of beds without sacrificing safety.

"You don't cut corners to where it's going to be a safety, security or health issue," Richard Smelser, warden of the Crowley Correctional Facility in Colorado tells NOW. The prison is run by Corrections Corporation, which had revenues of over $1.4 billion last year.

The Crowley prison made headlines back in 2004 after a major prison riot caused overwhelmed staff to run away from the facility. Outside law enforcement had to come in to put down the uprising.

"The problems that were identified in the wake of the riot are typical of the private prison industry and happen over and over again," Green tells NOW.

Privatization of the prison should not be done as the bodies are totally government regulatory body and they have severe criminals inside them. These criminals are a threat to the society and government bodies in sure that the criminals won't go out.
Government authorities should be able to maintain the cost inside the present and also to provide incarceration space to the Prisoners. Private providers for the Prisoners services directly put their profits before the Prisoners and this directly decreases the overall quality of the service being provided to the Prisoners. Government is not able to build presence as most of the Prisoners are getting inside the presence and these presents are getting smaller to accommodate people. Outsourcing the prison and prisoners to the private sector is not an option for the government.
Government should have directly implemented a new strategy to bring out more Government employees to serve the presence actor and to build in your presence with the help of the government contractors and the government employees. Private firms are directly against the Prisoners and they are just looking into the profits gained by them. This is Pacific ignorance of the Prisoner and the prisons in place of creating prophets for the private companies would directly decrease the quality of the overall living and services which are being provided to the prison and prisoners.
Private sector can also be very much compromise with the safety as it doesn't have any regulatory authority and the private sector is directly ruling over the presence. Prison breaks and other kind of illegal activities could be done as private sector can be largely influenced by other Threts and criminals as well.
Hence we can say that overall problem is with the government, government should start looking into this sector and should be appointing to work.

Outsourcing most of the parts of the prison and prisoners is not an option. By stopping the outsourcing, government can introduce their own plan to provide supplies and services to the presence which would greatly increased their level of prophets as well as I'm sure the security of the presence which is more necessary.
