1) Three requirements for moral judgments:
The requirements for Moral judgments should be (1) logical, (2) Fact-based and (3) Sound or defensible moral principles. A moral judgment that is weak on any of these grounds is open to criticism.
Despite not having any list of adequacy criteria for moral judgments, moral judgments should be having following three traits.
Moral Judgments Should Be Logical: In order to be logical, moral judgment should follow logically from their premises. The relationship between (1) the standard, (2) the conduct or policy, and (3) the moral judgment should be in such a way that 1 and 2 should logically entail 3. The prime objective is to support our moral judgments, sentiment or social or personal preference.
Moral Judgments Should Be Based on Facts: There must be some logical facts on which the moral judgment should be based. No judgment can be made in a vacuum. It is important to collect the relevant information before making any moral judgment.
Moral Judgments Should Be Based on Acceptable Moral Principles: As it is a common fact that moral judgments are based on moral standards and these moral standards must be derived from the moral principles.
2) Before evaluating Utilitarianism, to understand and clarify the points that might lead to confusion and misapplication are as follows:
According to the theory of Utilitarianism, in a society if the largest number of people are considering a particular situation as the happiest moment where there is absence of pain or worries, the stimulus of that happiness is considered to be morally right as the response leads to happiness and the same is considered wrong if the response leads to pain or unhappiness for the largest number of people.
In the above-mentioned scenario, nobody should be insulted based on religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation or gender. This leads to racism in the context of the sports team or a school. I’m totally for this policy of bringing the protocol of acting jointly against racism which leads to discrimination and diversity. Let us see this in detail.
Racism is an act of chauvinism, being discriminative and biased against an individual or group of different race/culture based on an assumption that their own race/culture is superior.
Workplace Diversity refers to an inclusive environment at work locations where employees, team members, project members, suppliers, vendors, customers etc., who are the key stakeholders of the business are not discriminated with the background of one's culture, race, skin color, physical appearance etc., This holds good for a sports team or a school as well.
