Question
A company Bit-by Bit Inc. has been assigned a network IP address of 216.54.18.0. It has three divisions that need a total of 45 subnets. You are the network administrator for the company and are responsible for creating the subnets. Please answer the following questions. (25 points) What is the total number of network bits? (1 point) Answer :-I How many bits do you need to borrow from the host bits for the subnet field? (1 point) Answer What is the maximum number of subnets that can be created with the subnet bits (1 point) Answer :- What is the maximum number of IP addresses available per subnet? (1 point) Answer:- 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. What is the maximum number of IP addresses that can be assigned to a host device per subnet? (I point Answer :- 6. What is the subnet mask in binary representation?( I point) Answer :- 7. What is the subnet mask in decimal representation? ( 1 point) Answer :Explanation / Answer
1. Since it is a class C network, hence total number of network bits is 24. (In class C range of first octate 192 to 223)
2. Since orgabisation have 3 division. Hence we need at least 2 bit to represent 3 number. Hence we need to borrow 2 bit from host portion for subnet field
3. With the help of 2 bits we can create a maximum of 4 subnet
4. After allocating 2 bits for subnet field 6 bit left for host IP and with the help of 6 bits 2^6 i.e 64 IP addresses is possible
5.Out of 64 IP addresses per subnet 2 IP addresses is reserved for subnet ID and broadcast ID. Hence only 64 - 2 i.e 62 IP addresses can be assigned to hosts
6. subnet mask is binary representation 11111111.11111111.11111111.11000000
7. Subnet mask in decimal representation 255.255.255.192
