Question

You are to architect a Drone based system for monitoring crop growth and quality as well as soil properties. This information will be fed into a farm management system (outside of your scope) that will analyze the data and suggest what corps to grow where, soil treatment, water management, fertilization, ideal time for harvesting and so forth. The drones will be operated from a central control and drone management system with the possibility of overriding with manual operation. An operator shall be able to view sensor data (incl. images) in real time as well as vie historic data on demand. 1. Use Cases Identify 3 Use Cases/Operational Scenarios, and their associated external Actors (human or external systems) that are a good representation of the "purpose" of the system (similar to the Order and Deliver Meal scenario we used in class to "exercise" and analyze the architecture of the drone based food delivery system in class). Discuss your thought process as you came up with the Actors and the three Use Cases. What potential Actors and Use Cases did you consider? How did you decide on the ones you chose? What questions/uncertainties came up for you as you went through this exercise?

Explanation / Answer

1. Drones can be used as Imaging sensors

External Actors: Farmers , Drone Operator , Sensors

I came up with this idea because it will help farmers in real time for plant counting ,soil erosion analysis, crop health. Drones will be able to provide more information than what humanly is possible.

2. Drones can help in crop spraying

External Actors: Farmers, Drone Operator, LIDAR system

I came up with this idea as drones can come up with the accurate amount of spray after scanning the ground. There will be increase in efficiency with reduction in wastage and pollution.

3. Drones can help in Irrigation

External Actors: Farmers, Drone Operator, thermal sensors

I came up with this idea as sensors can identify which part of field is dry and needs improvements. It can also calculate the amount of energy the crop releases which help in enhancement of productivity.

The questions or uncertainties which i could come up with are:
