critical thinking

President Trump was justified in pulling out of the recent Paris Accord on Global Warming because US compliance wll be too costly in terms of lost jobs and higher energy prices. The scientific evidence on the human impact on global warming is still debatable. China and India (the two bigst CO2 polluters) will probably refuse to comply with tho Accord anyway, thereby undercutting the US competitive position in world markets if we comply with the Accord.

Explanation / Answer

1.

The concept of global warming is tied to two factors which are manmade and other the nature’s path or course of evolution. President Trump insisted on the point that the manmade factors that led to or contributed towards global warming is a hoax that has been falsely represented by media house internationally for the purpose to undermine the competitive advantage USA has in the world economy.

Global warming is a lie is further credited by the founder of the weather channel, Mr. Jone Coleman, in the argument against global warming Mr. Coleman stated that polar ice is not melting rather it is increasing, the polar bears are increasing, heat waves are diminishing and the ocean is not rising significantly. Although Mr. Coleman demonstrated his knowledge and experience entirely on the natural factors but many international climate governing bodies have exaggerated and sometimes falsify the claims of global warming leading to a positional doubt on the whole concept of global warming, in once such claim made by IPPC in 2007 that claimed that the entire Himalayan glacier could melt by the year 2035, which was found to be a baseless finding.

2.

Before we talk about the cost involved in the Paris accord, let’s involve Green Climate Fund, under the UN which was founded in 2010 much before Paris Accord for the purpose of funding developing countries to to facilitate economic structuring to counter climate change. The funding is done as a contribution by developed countries such as USA, Japan, Denmark, Germany and other industrialised countries. US pledged to contribute $3 billion into this fund and as of now $1 billion is already extinguished supporting the organizations goals. Now after president Trump came in the office he made it clear that no more contributions will be forwarded by the US to GCF, as he referred it “taking money from the rich and distributing to the poor.”

Now according to Lomborg, the US would have lost $2.5 trillion in GDP by 2035, when analysed with cost-benefit analysis it was not beneficial and the Paris accord did not take China & India’s stand as the most polluting countries to impose higher concentration on lowering their carbon footprint, given all the facts the arrangement of Paris accord seemed to be a loss of future.
