Question
Below are two areas my organization is actually practicing -
Employment practices - The firm employs good employment practices which include inclusion and diversity, fair treatment of employees, offers work-life balance, avoids discrimination, restricts illegal usage of drugs etc. The firm takes a number of initiatives where various teams work together to improve each of these areas.
Employee, Client and Vendor Information - Being a consulting firm, it is really important to protect client confidential information and the firm employs various data security polices which provide encryption of data thus ensuring security of client and employee information.
Below are two areas where the firm requires improvement -
Public Information/Communications - The firm needs to improve communicating to external stakeholders and media which helps in creating positive public relations. Cosndiering it is in Business-to-Business market, the firm is not much interested in creating goodwill with the general public .
Environmental Issues - As the firm is in consulting industry, it doesn't involve much in environmental and sustainable practices because of the perception that it doesn't create waste and pollute the atmosphere as much as other firms. The firm should focus on more greener and sustainable practices in future.
Explanation / Answer
Learning Activity #2
Think global…act local
One of the primary social objectives of the globalization of business is to raise the standard of living and quality of life in lesser developed and impoverished countries. By engaging in business activities that provide goods and services, jobs, infrastructure improvements as well as philanthropic programs, business is fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the societies and markets served.
My question is this...
Is globalization working?
Using the learning resources (or any additional research) address the notion of who or what is responsible for resolving the world’s problems and moral issues? Discuss two specific moral issues that globalization is expected to address and offer an example of a business that is attempting to rectify the two issues important to YOU. Should the 10 Principles of the UN’s Global Compact be universally applied or should the concepts of national sovereignty and ethical relativism prevail? Support your position with specific examples.
Please remember the APA requirements when answering the questions in a single post. Thanks.
