Question
Ethical issues involved in researching consumer preferences for hotels:
1. Objectivity: Staying of customers in hotel would be for a very short period of time and also they wouldn't have tried many hotels to compare. Hence it is quite doubtful that their preferences would be fair and objectivity would always be a question mark.
2. Segmentation: Segmenting hotels for research purpose would be quite difficult. All hotels serve the basic purpose of food and stay but the quality and standard differs. Accordingly each customer preference would be different depending upon the segmentation. Hence it is not ethical to measure hotels with different standards.
3. Need: Preference of customers changes according to their needs. A tourist may need a different hotel experience and a businessman would need a different experience. Hence it is not ethical to research on this basis.
