Question

A) Some of non-U.S. citizens who have studied in America are not allowed to stay in the United States upon graduating from American universities because every year thousands of students from all across the globe come to America for higher education and join the American universities. Once they finish their study they join the American companies and get work permit and extend their stay in America. Some of them file petitions to get settled there in America. America is not ready to deal with this problem because if they start letting non American to settle in America how will they give jobs to the local American. America is dealing with the problem of unemployment, how will they deal with it ?

From a policy perspective the system should be changed in such a way that these student can assist in the growth of America. There is economic growth from these students staying in America. The student who come to America gain knowledge from the esteemed universities and these knowledge and skills can be used in building up a good society for the country as they can contribute in every field of life. American can utilize these talent pools in setting up new industries for creating jobs for the American citizens.

B) I totally agree with this as thousand of graduate are forced to leave the country every year, as they are not getting hired by the American companies. The country is not providing them work permit for a longer duration. All these talented people are going back to their own nation and creating opportunities for the fellow country men.So rather then letting them go why not absorb them in our own nation. Whereas the companies in America will be forced to work with the available resources to them, whether they are talented or not. Which will obviously be seen in the outcome.

B) Please answer in essay format If you agree or disagree with the statements made and why?

The result is that employers are now reluctant to hire foreign students. Why recruit and train new hires when there is less than a 50 percent chance that they will be able to stay? These students are getting increasingly frustrated and applying for jobs back home or in other countries. So we have set the stage for hundreds of thousands of highly educated and skilled workers to become our competitors. The Indian and Chinese industry benefited in a big way from the trickle of returnees over the last few years. Now we're looking at a flood." In light of the above passage, I would also like for you to provide your own commentary in answering these critical thinking questions:

A) Why are some of the non-U.S. citizens who study in America not being allowed to stay in the United States upon graduating from American universities?

Immigrants contribute many great attributions the United States. Many immigrants come to the United States to study but may have the intention of staying in the country beyond graduation. According to the article, immigrants contribute to the U.S. economic growth and global competitiveness. The issue arises allowing non-U.S. citizens to stay in the county upon graduating from American universities because of the vast number of students who do so. I can imagine that the U.S. receives a lot of petitions from students to remain in the U.S., not all will be granted. Also, the competition would be too high regarding obtaining jobs for natural born citizens, and that is an issue the U.S. is not prepared to undertake. The article mentions opponents complain that allowing non-immigrants to stay in the country will cause job loss and damage to some professions. Immigrants have proven to be beneficial to this county and should be given the opportunity to stay beyond graduation.

From a policy perspective, how might this system be changed?

The best interest of the country would be to hold on to the individual, skills, and education invested into an immigrant student. I do not think it is a good idea to send them home after graduation. A policy change that would allow more students to stay in the country would continue assisting in the economic growth and competitive advantage over other countries. The policy already enables international students Optional Practical Training (OPT), which allows students to work beyond graduation but on limited time. Policy changes could perhaps extend allocated time and more flexibility granted to employers to petition for immigrant students to stay in the country to work long-term.
