In this case the newsvendor mismatched the cost by mistake or because of some technical situations but not intensionally kept that cost whether it might be lower than the actual price or higher than the actual price..
Because of people habituated to the news paper daily purchasing or monthly, they pay the actual amount and retailer also collects the actual price.
In most of the situations may few customers do not buy the newspaper if cost is too high so it may reflects in daily quantity of ordering, revenue, forecasting future situations, but the selling price remains same because people dont accept it all of sudden.
Intimating before about the cost may aware the people and the sellers so newsvendor can forecast different scenario's
