Yes the project manager needs to manage the entire project schedule when the team members do not accurately report when they are behind and project manager needs to ensure and take all the neccessary actions to complete the given tasks or activity within given period of time.

The ways which the project manager can ensure accurate status report are :

- By Planning and Defining Scope of the project there are dealing with.

- By making the Activity Planning and Sequencing of the tasks assigned.

- All the available persons or Resource to finish the tasks and Planning the requirments

- Making all the paper works and trying to Develope the Schedules of the project.

- Main thing is time which means project manager need to make sure about the time takes and time to finish the project within given interval of time and he need to make the Time Estimations.
