Personal style of communication helps to create good and lasting impression on others. One has to be aware of how others percieve you and adapt to thier styles of communicating to have an efficient communication

Various styles of communication are : Assertive , Aggresive , Passive-Aggresive , Submissive and Manipulative

While doing our group projects and group presentations the communication style we use becomes evident in the way we put our view across and how we handle the counter arguments against it.

I understood that my style of communication was more assertive in nature by being confident , self-aware and proactive in the group decision making. In terms of behaviour with other I have been firm at times however realistic about my own and others capabilities

RECIGNIZE BARRIERS TO COMMUNICATION

Emotional Barriers: Taboo topics and interacting with people who are too agressive in nature or manipulative. Difficulty in completely opening up with people who are new.

Cultural Differences- Interacting with people of different cultures in terms of ethnicity, country of origin, religion etc

Differences in Perception and view point

Startegies to overcome them :

Emotional Barriers can be overcomed by being more objective in nature, and focussing on the work on hand

Cultural differences should be kept in mind avoiding topics which can be controversial in the beginning and ignoring stereotypes

Difference is perception and view point can be overcome by listening to the other, taking your time to analyze the information and then comparing it with your own view.
