1. Transaction processing systems - These systems would house transactional data from all the different departments (marketing, sales, finance etc)
2. Data modelling - This exercise will help determine which data from each of the transactional systems is needed for business intelligence. Then, the format/hierarchy and relationship between data from the sources will be established and designed.
3. ETL process - This Extract-Transform-Load process would collect the required data from all the disparate systems from the different departments and load them into a single common place for analysis (Data Warhouse)
4. Data warehouse - This is where all the transactional data would be transformed and loaded to achieve summaries, cross-functional analysis, create reports on a cadence etc
5. BI Hardware - The system must be scalable and to maintain high performance levels, investment would be needed to acquire robust BI hardware systems such as servers, cloud architecture, databases and licenses for visualization softwares etc
