Question

THE QUESTIONS THAT A good business owner ask while donating charity to a not for profit organization may include:

1) Does your charity clearly communicate the vision and mission? - If a charity struggles in articulating its mission and its programs, it will probably struggle in delivering those programs. Organizations that can explain who they are and what they're trying to accomplish have a singularity of purpose and a commitment to focused institutional change

2) Can your organization define their short-term and long-term goals? - Demand that your charity tell you what it is trying to do. Good organizations relish this opportunity. They know what they are working toward today and tomorrow.

3) Can the organization show the progress it has made towards its goals?-it must have the proof of its previous work or the current work it is doing.

4) Does the charity program of the organization make sense to you? - If you support the mission of an organization, ask yourself if its programs also make sense. You believe in the cause, and you hope for the end result, but are the organization working toward that result in a way that seems rational and productive to you

5) Are you willing to make a long term commitment towards such charity? - When you do this, you agree to support them through good times and bad, and provide the funding it needs to weather economic downturns. In return, it promises to continue working toward addressing the issue you both think is so vital

As a charity investor I would be looking at the how efficiently my current funds or resources are allocated and utilized in the main motive for which they are being provided. How effectively the organization has been able to produce results aligned with its missions and motives would like to take into account the pace of progress in their efforts when equipped with appropriate funds.

Explanation / Answer

As business owner with a good position to support San Jude a non-profit or a non-profit of choice, must give all my funds away ($1.5 million) to support to the San Jude or same non-profit organization, over two periods of time (the 1st 50 percent of the funds now, and the remaining 50 percent of the funds in two years). Please design or propose five (5) specific questions you will require to be answered BEFORE you issue check #1 for the first 50 percent of the money. Why are your asking these five questions?

Finally, what will you as the charity or future investor be looking for in two years in order to issue check #2 (the other 50 percent)?
