Question

..i T-Mobile Wi-Fi 2:12 PM blackboard.ccrì.edu My Commitment to the Future Due week beg. 12/18/2017 (5 paragraphs) You have now completed a full semester course on the Principles of Management. However, this course has only been of value if you are willing to apply what you have learned in the real world. This exercise is designed to motivate you to think about how you will apply what you have learned. Individually; write out what you plan to differently as a result of taking this course when you become a manager or if you're currently a manager. Keep in mind you can even write from the perspective of being an employee working for those with different managerial styles. Be as behaviorally specific as possible; general statements do not tend to act as motivators or effective standards to which to measure success. You can also include those topics that have simply reaffirmed your current behaviors.

Explanation / Answer

When I become a manager, what I would do differently using principles of management is as below:

1. Even though there are 14 principles of management, for my ease I would put them under the below buckets first:

Leadership: which includes division of work , authority and responsibility, unity of command, unity of direction, order, team spirit and remuneration

Organisation structure: which includes degree of centralisation, line of authority and subordination of individual interest to mutual interest

Core Values: which includes discipline, equity , initiative and stability of tenure of personnel.

2. Secondly, before starting any project or any work I would analyse these three buckets.

3. In order to be a good manager, I would first concentrate on

- building an effective team adopting transformational and democratic leadership styles

- analyse their skills and knowledge through different trainings

- allocate work according to their knowledge and skills.

- provide right remuneration for right work by analysing the current compensation market

- give orders and commands for right purposes and do not micro manage.

- guide and direct them towards success and also take the responsibility to look into their personal and professional developments

4. For building the organisation structure,

- I would follow the decentralization method where decision making is possible at all levels in the organisation.

-Thereby it increases the morale of employees

- which inturn makes the organisations goal to merge with employees individual goals and thereby leading to success for both.

5. Would look into the core values like

- treating all with respect

- providing good work environment

- through which build a disciplined team by treating them equally.
