I recommend you work in the leading field of IoT ( Internet of Things ) for your thesis.

Research / Field Gap 1: Though IoT has been around for quite a long time, the tools used for preliminary simulation of IoT devices are still primitive. Example: We use Contiki Cooja to simulate networks and best paths, but the software is pretty much outdated.

Research / Field Gap 1: After the introductions of RasperryPi, almost all of the IoT devices big firms make are somewhere based on RaspPi. But still, there are not enough tools for a developer to use a raspberry pi as an IoT node for research. You can develop a toolkit for it.

Field 2 :

This is a very specific problem. The most famous tool used worldwide to analyze packets is Wireshark. But there are many problems with it and it also is very out-dated.

Research / Field Gap 1: Wireshark IS NOT CONCURRENT. Which means it works in a sequential fashion. This is a big flaw. In the age of powerful computers, it is very primitive to use sequential technologies.

Research / Field Gap 2: It is not customizable, meaning you cannot modify it to analyze packets of your custom type. This functionality will boost its utility to manifolds.
