A network security system which monitors and controls the traffic flowing to and from the network or the computer according to the predefined and present security rules. Thus, it protects the computer from several attacks and risks that can harm the internal network or computer from an external untrusted network such as Internet.

Pros of having a firewall:

a) Better security for the computers and the networks with monitoring features

b) Advanced network and controlling functionalities

c) Protect many users all at once in case of a network firewall, making the network safe

Cons of having a firewall:

a) Can degrade system or network performance

b) Can make the internet slower or access times mire

c) Cost and maintenance of the firewall is higher

d) Needs professionals to manage the firewalls.

The relevant issues surrounding firewall deployments in organizations and businesses in network or PC firewalls are:

a) Types of firewall that the company needs for different purposes

b) Budget of the company and package to go for

c) There are many choices, which ones do the business actually need?

d) Safety and security assurances by the firewall manufacturer

e) Getting a team in place for security review and maintenance of the firewall

In an organization, one should be able to balance security requirements with usability requirements. This means confidentiality, integrity, availability of data and other resources should be a problem because of the implementation of the firewall and everything should be normal. firewall should work in the background to monitor the security of the organization network and computers. Thus usability of the computers and network has to be normal even when we are implementing a firewall such that no issues or effects arise because of the usage of the firewall on the daily users and business operations.
