Explanation / Answer

Recently I had visited my mentor who is from finance industry for my interview at a good financial institution. I had n numbers of doubt which he cleared with all the informative knowledge I needed from him. I first asked him about the basics of the investment banking industry and what are the day to day jobs of the analyst, where he enlightened me about the basis of the investment banking industry and explained me the daily chores of the analyst. He explained to me how one needs to get the basic knowledge how different stocks and commodities work on their respective exchanges and how one can analyse the market conditions, he also spoke on the portfolio management of different clients and different types of the funds where clients like to invest. He told me that the analyst keeps watching on the market and advises the client accordingly to manage clients funds. He told me that the income bonds are the safest way to invest clients money, where they will be at least assured of getting their principle, but the returns on the investment would be a little low.

Further, i asked him how it is to work in a corporate environment, where he gave his own companies example and how the working culture is, he explained different perks like getting impeccable working environment, salary and etc.

Lastly, i asked him about the tips on the interview, where he advised me to be well groomed and well dressed, half the battle is won when you make a first impression. Secondly, he asked me to brush my knowledge on investment banking, read more about market operations and lastly do not take the stress and be yourself at interview. it was a helpful conversation and would help me in the interview
