A transactional system is a different form a Business Data Warehouse in a way that :
a) Transactional Systems have Relational Databases with the normalized tables, whereas the Business Data Warehouse contains data in a denormalized form.
b) Transactional System Database is highly volatile and is designed to maintain the transactions of the business, whereas a Business Data Warehouse is non-volatile in nature and has periodic updates to it.
c) Transactional System is an Online transaction processing system whereas the Business Data Warehouse is a database system for analysis.
d) Transactional Systems have functional data whereas Business Data Warehouse may contain subject and topic and requirement oriented data.
e) Transactional Systems and their databases deal with day to day production a while the Business Data Warehouse deals with historical data where it receives the production data and stores them for later use.
