Q1)

Answer)

A functional organization is a type of organization in which the organizational structure is divide into smaller groups based on the different areas or functions such as in an organization there can be several functions between the same business perspective such as - IT - to support the IT infrastructure, finance - for handling the finance of the business, or marketing - for marketing of the products or services and sales. Functional departmentalization thus allows for better organizational efficiency in operations as there are different functions and the employees are grouped in organizations to achieve a common target.

However, a business process is a link of tasks that at the end delivers a product or service something of value to the client. Thus business process generates the product or the service and also accomplishes the organizational goal.

But, functional organizational structure and business processes are at odds with each other since the different functional groups sometimes may not communicate with each other, or may not work together towards the same goal. Thus, thus potentially decreases flexibility and innovation. This in-process affects the business process whenever a problem occurs and the business cannot deliver the product or service as promised.
