Question
The physical implementation of a network should reflect the network's technical goals. For example, network traffic characteristics may require a particular bandwidth requirement in order to ensure network performance. This need will affect your implementation choices. In your post:
Explain two criteria that you think are the most important when selecting the physical devices for a particular networking implementation. Why?
Choose one of the technical goals for a network you studied earlier in the course. Describe a networking scenario that would require you to make particular physical media choices to support that technical goal. Why would your choice of media be a better fit for your scenario than another?
Explanation / Answer
Answer)
When we design a network we have on our mind the set of requirements that we want the network to exhibit. Thus, the physical implementation of a network should meet the requirements and the technical goals of the network. Thus, this need or requirement will affect the choice for the selection of the network devices. The two criteria that are the most important when selecting the physical devices for a particular networking implementation are:
a) Ease of deployment and installation of the physical device which does meet the requirements of the network's technical goals.
b) Network scalability is the demand for a network where we have to make assumptions that the demand may rise to increase the number of data collectors and storage and users and thus if the physical device or setup can thus support scalability requirements of the network.
I'm not sure what technical goals for a network you studied earlier in the course.
In a typical networking scenario, with a number of users who are working inside an organizational network, where devices and computers are connected to a network switch. Now if we need to upgrade a switch based on our scalability rising, then we need to consider certain factors to select a new network switch:
Consider the number of user at maximum
Consider the network infrastructure and purpose
Determine the network needs of users in the organization
Choose the role of the new switch
Choose additional and modern features of the network switch
Pick a vendor
and Select the price you want to pay
Install the switch.
Thus selecting a newer and higher capacity switch here is very important, thus we need to choose a switch based on the above criteria to be the best fit for the scenario.
