Question
1)A solution to the critical-section problem must satisfy: _____________
A.Mutual exclusion must be enforced: Only one process at a time is allowed into its critical section
B.A process waiting to enter its critical section cannot be delayed infinitely
C.When no process is in a critical section, any process that requests entry to its critical section must be permitted to enter without delay.
D.No assumption are made about the relative process speeds or the number of processors
E.All of the above
Explanation / Answer
A solution to the critical-section problem must satisfy : ALL of the above
crtical section is used to avoid deadlock condition in which one process wait for resources held by second process and vice versa. So with the help of Critical section we can solve the problem by allowing only one process at a time to enter and execute and keeping in mind that no other process have to wait for indefinate time otherwise there is of no use and if there is no process in critical section and there is a process who wish to enter then allow them if it is not executing in its reminder section.
