Question
You started working at a medium size company where the need for a CRM software has become a priority. The management is looking at Oracle and SAP but the cost is really out of range because it will require a lot of customization…
Fortunately, you got there on time and, with your knowledge of software development process, you have the opportunity to convince the management team that a custom-built software can be built in house by hiring the right people as contractors for a period of time….
Build a plan aimed at building the software for your company that will convince the management team.
Show what it will take, a timeline, the components needed, how to make sure that the software development will be on schedule, how it will be tested. Discuss specification, planning, management of the development process, the several testing phases, the implementation and the release to the company’s personal.
I asked this question befor but the answer was not helpful , Can i get another answer ?
Explanation / Answer
It is very important to hire knowledgeble people so that the software would be completed in stipulated time.
Requirement gathering the basic step to start a new siftware or any project th emain step is requirement gathering. Who is going to use the system? How will they use the system? What data should be input into the system? What data should be output by the system? how to assign the modules to different people, These are general questions that get answered during a requirements gathering phase. After requirement gathering these requirements are analyzed for their validity and the possibility of incorporating the requirements in the systemshould also be considered.
Finally, a Requirement Specification document is created which serves as a guideline for the next phase.
Design: In this phase the system and software design is prepared from the requirement specifications which were done in the first phase. System Design helps in specifying hardware and system requirements and also helps in defining overall system architecture. The system design specifications serve as input for the next phase of the model.
Implementation : On receiving system design documents, the work is divided in modules/units and actual coding is started. Since, in this phase the code is produced so it is the main focus for the developer. This is the longest phase of the software development.
After the code is developed it is tested against the requirements to make sure that the product is actually solving the needs addressed and gathered during the requirements phase. During this phase unit testing, integration testing, system testing, acceptance testing are done.
testing phases
White-box testing ( or glass box testing) tests internal structures or workings of a program
Black-box testing treats the software as a "black box", examining functionality without any knowledge of internal implementation, without seeing the source code.
Grey-box testing (American spelling: gray-box testing) involves having knowledge of internal data structures and algorithms for purposes of designing tests, while executing those tests at the user, or black-box level.
Deployment: After successful testing the product is delivered / deployed to the personnel for their use.
