Explanation / Answer

Lets us see the resistances what Melissa is going to encounter through the Armenakis et al model.

1) Discrepancies - What you want vs What you have

Here Melissa is going to face the resistance in form of change, here almost all employees are paid similar salary and the level of work performed is different for each one. The pharmacist is going to have different work and Store managers are having a different set of responsibilities, there is no motivating factor here.

2)Appropriateness - what is appropriate to fix?

As said above there is no motivational factor for employees to change, hence the service level is at all time low, an incentive scheme should be developed to fix this resistance.

3)Efficacy - confidence to implement the change

To bring glory back to the company there would be many hurdles and challenges would be faced by Mellisa, such as controlling turnover rate, changing attitude of employee, bringing in new customers to the store, resistance any newly devised training program for employees, this should be done confidently

4) Support - Getting all stakeholder on board

As the prices here are high the customers would obviously not turn up to the store, secondly, the salary structure is not on an appropriate level so employees won't work as they should be. Hence proper corrective plan is to made to make things work in proper manner.

5)Personal Valance - Whats in it for me

Each and every stakeholder would think that Customer would see the service quality and the value he is getting at the pharmacy, employees would see what they get for the level of service they provide and Mellisa would see how to get the company to perform better. All of which is not in place and need to be worked on.
