Question
The time has come for XelPharm to expand. The board of directors has purchased another warehouse for a second distribution facility. It's located in an industrial area, about 8 miles from the company's headquarters. Unfortunately, fiber-optic cable has not reached this area, and given the numerous obstacles to digging, it would be prohibitively expensive to install. What type of long-distance, high-throughput wireless technology do you recommend to connect the headquarters with the new distribution center? List the benefits and drawbacks of this type of equipment each location would need to make your wireless solution work. Research the cost of purchasing and installing this equipment and compare it with the cost of leasing a T3 over SONET.
Explanation / Answer
For this long distance , high-throughput wireless technology we should use IEEE 802.15.4. as it covers 300 m line of sight with help of ZigBee protocol.
Also we can extend our network through Mesh structure with the help of several Wi-Fi repeater or IEEE 802.15.4 router to things work.
for round about 8 mile = 12874 meters, we have to use 42 IEEE 802.15.4 router of Wi-Fi repeaters.
Generally these devices are called Full Functional Devices (FFD). They are like network mediators or network co-ordinator.
There are several pros and cons to this system as well .
Pros :
long distance reliablity
better throughput
robust structure
maximum capacity
These wireless devie entenna can see without obstruction.
Signal strengh is good
Built-in error checking
Cost Effcetive
Cons :
As per the network Topology :
Star : Small Scale
tree : Route reconstruction is costly,Latency might be long
Mesh : Route disvoery is costly, need storage for routing tables.
