Question

I need a response to the following peers discussion post

What is the hypothesis of interest in this question?

The hypothesis of interest is that premium unleaded gasoline will have an improvement in mean acceleration time over regular unleaded gasoline.

Would you recommend a Z-test or T-test? Give a reason for your answer.

The T-test is what should be used in this question. This is because it will result in a sample standard deviation and the variance is unknown.

What is the value of the test statistic for this test?

The test statistic for this test is -1.5246.

What is the distribution of the test statistic you mentioned in the last question?

The distribution is t-distribution

Perform the test by first computing the p value for the test.

The p-vale is equal to 0.068

Why is a one-sided test better than a two-sided test in this situation?

It would be a one-sided test because it is focusing on “one particular direction” (Levine, Stephan & Szabat, 2017).

Can you change the situation so that a two-sided test would be appropriate and a one-sided test would not be appropriate?

If the test was not just based on the type of gasoline but road conditions, wind speed, what type of driver was driving and other factors similar to this.
