Explanation / Answer

Definitions of the data and metadata.

Data – data are the objects stored in the database which can be easily stored and retrived from the database.

Metadata – metadata is nothing but the data about data. Mmetadata specifies the data types (char, int, date) we receive in the form of tuples of a database.

a) Driver’s name, address, and birthdate.: These are the necessary individual properties of database of driver's license. And therefore thses are classified as unstructured data, and can be stored and retrieved from the database.

b) The fact that the driver’s name is a 30-character field.: It is classified as metadata. It represents data type of driver's name. It is a metadata describing property of the data.

c) A photo image of the driver.: It is the necessary information of the data, therefore it is a unstructured data. Photo image is multimedia component and will not be stored and retrieved easily from he databse.

d) An image of the driver’s fingerprint.: Again , it s also unstructured data, which can not be stored and retrieved easily.

e) The make and serial number of the scanning device that was used to scan the fingerprint.: It is classified as structured data.

f) The resolution (in megapixels) of the camera that was used to photograph the driver.: It is also classified as structured data.

g) The fact that the driver’s birthdate must precede today’s date by at least 16 years.: It is a matadata and fact describing the context of data.
