How about using a tangible interface or even a drone to help remote students collaborate? Keep in mind that the application is planned to be used by distributed users. So, some interface types such as shareable may not be applicable to the design. Also, consider the “research and design issues” boxes for the interface types you choose. For each interface type you choose, please complete the following tasks:

a- write down the conceptual model of your design. For example, a description of how the system is organized and operates; a hypothetical scenario/use case of how the application should be used by students; metaphors and analogies used in your design, and so on.

b- sketch out your design. Three sketches showing how your design operates and flows are required.

After you finish the designs, please answer the following questions:

a- Compare the pros and cons of designing the application using the three different interfaces with respect to conducting group projects online. You should use the HCI concepts you have learned until now to do the comparison (e.g., usability, user experience, assumptions/claims, metaphors, cognitive processes, levels in the model of emotion, interface types, and so on).

b- Based on the above comparison, discuss which design/interface you prefer, and why?

Explanation / Answer

As we all know that interface is basically termed as a space where the communiation or the interation between the humans and machines are being done. For remote students collaborate, we can think of following three interfaces:

1) GUI based interface: Here in this type of interface we can create a web base gui, then can have the access from various geo locations. And this gui we have all the contents that can be helpful to the student to interact.

2) Command line based interface: Here in this type of interface we can build up a utility through which multiple student can communicate with each other using the command line interface. Here, student can send messages to each other from command prompt and can interact with each other.

3) Cloud base interface: Here in this type of interface, we gui all the data over the cloud, infromation access is done from the cloud. Cloud based interface is less in use now days Its basically a future technology.

Among these three interface of application development, i will chose the gui base interface, due to following reasons:

1) Gui based interface is more interactive.
2) Its easy to understand
3) Less complexity
4) Easy to managed and control

Disadvantages of Other two interfaces:
1) Complex to use
2) Not much user friendly
3) Special trainning required to used them
4) Not much easy to managed
