In Least Total Cost method, we compare the carrying cost and ordering costs for various lot sizes and select the lot where these costs are most nearly equal.
In Least Unit Cost method, we add the carrying cost and ordering cost for various trial lot sizes and divide that by the lot size. The lot size where unit cost is lowest is selected for ordering.
Calculation of Total cost, Unit cost and absolute difference of holding and ordering cost is as follows:
Least unit cost = 0.0859 , corresponding to cumulative order quantity of 190
Least Total cost (least difference of holding cost and ordering cost) = 1.5 corresponding to cumulative order quantity of 455
