b.River Problem:

A farmer wishes to carry a wolf, a duck and corn across a river, from the south to the north shore. The farmer is the proud owner of a small rowing boat called Bounty which he feels is easily up to the job. Unfortunately the boat is only large enough to carry at most the farmer and one other item. Worse again, if left unattended the wolf will eat the duck and the duck will eat the corn.

2.b.A system that plays tic-tac-toe by placing its ‘x’ next to the opponent’s ‘o’ -- reflex agent because it doesnt depend on the history of the game , its move is already fixed.

c.An agent that does your grocery shopping -- reflex agent because it doesnt depend on the history, it is decided on the spot.

d.A firewall that prevents malware from installing on your pc. -- planning agent because it depends on the history of events and it has a final goal to save your pc.

e.A monkey that wants to eat all the bananas in the room -- reflex agent as it doesnt depend on the history of events , it is done on the spot.

b. River Problem --

First only possible step is to take the duck to the north(1).

Then two cases arise either take wolf to the north or corn to the north(1).

Then take duck to south(1),corn/wolf to north(1),duck to north(1)

So= 1+2*(1+1+1+1) =9 states
