Question

Choose two Web sites to evaluate, analyze and compare: one you think is highly effective and one you would not recommend. Explain the differences and debate why you think the first Web site is effective. How do you think the customers react to such elements? Where do you think the second Web site has failed?

Consider the following questions while constructing your comparison:

What was your initial impression of the site? Did you feel bored, overwhelmed, or confused?

How much time did it take to realize the purpose of the site?

Is the URL appropriate for the nature of the business? Why or why not? How do you select a URL to be appropriate to your business or to the theme of your Web site?

What is the target audience for the site?

Did the site look the same in multiple browsers? How about multiple devices such as smart phones, laptops, tablets, and so forth?

Were there indications that you could trust the site? What were they?

What are your thoughts about the layout and colors of the site? What impression do they give?

Was the text easy to read and easily scanned so that you did not have to read every word?

What are five of the HTML5 tags used on this Web site? Were they used correctly? Discuss these tags along with different options for their use. If you could change anything about how these tags were used, what will it be?

Explanation / Answer

I have considered two websites named sqaurespace.com and weebly.com. Both sites are used for building websites.

So let's compare according to your points of consideration :
1) Intial Impression :
sqaurespace : nice but little bit of confusion as it clearly mentioned for developing websites but no where it mentioned or gave any supplies so that one can decide where to start
weebly : whereas weebly is very interesting through it's animation so that people will try to explore more

2) url :
Both the sites have url which is no where near to purpose .Both of them have their brand names .
Url is selected based upon two things:
a) popularity : as these two brands are popular so they selected their brand name as their url
b) purpose: if popularity doesn't comes to play then simplicity helps. If the url depicts the purpose then it will help a way lot at the starting times

3) target audience :
both have same type of target audience which little difference. Both are targetting for website builders but
squarespace : it targets for design oriented website builders
weebly : it targets all types of creative people as well as website builders as it provides a easy building environment

4) Yup ,as both the websites are responsive so they look same on multiple browsers but not on multiple devices. If you compare within same type of devices they look same but not if you compare with different type of devices such as comparing a tablet with pc browser

5) I didn't feel that website builders will require any indication for trust. Still they both are providing support services and as both have big named in the industry so they have the trust

6)Layout:
sqaurespace : it haves a classic layout with contrasting colors suits for bussiness styled people
weebly : it haves funky and creative layout and very attractive too. So , it will attracts people who work in creative field and also it will attract students

7) Tags used :

a)<h1> to <h6>
   b)<ul>

c)<footer>

d)<img>

e)<menu>

and many more.

if I would change any tags then they would <menu> and <img> .I would prefer drop down menu and css form of img
