1) SPT is the shortest processing time: the Shortest job has to be taken first. Sequence using SPT rule: B-E-A-D-C
2) Average job flow time: (3.5+2.5+5.5+4.25+2.75)/5 = 18.5/5 = 3.7
3) Average Job Tardiness: If the job time is less than due date then we consider it as zero. If the job time is more than due date then the difference of both has to be taken.
Average Job Tardiness = (0+0+0+0+0)/5 = 0
4) Earliest Due Date: EDD rule: Jobs are sequenced based on their earliest due date. It means the one which goes out of the system first.
Sequence using EDD rule - E-B-A-C-D
Average job flow time = (6+5+16+18+3)/5 = 48/5 = 9.6
Average job tardiness = 0
Based on average job flow time, SPT is better (Since SPT = 3.7 and EDD= 9.6, shortest time has to be taken )
Based on average job tardiness, Either of them is better (Both are zero)
