With the growth of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and similar services from Google and hundreds of smaller companies, the cloud has become a major factor in how enterprise storage administrators make decisions. Storage the data locally, or in the cloud? These decisions have major impacts on business for a variety of reasons. Given recent data breaches by hackers worldwide and the continuing emphasis on data security, is it a positive that companies are moving to the cloud? Why or why not? Explain your answer.

YES,IT IS POSITIVE THAT COMAPNIES ARE MOVING TO THE CLOUD

Cloud Computing is the new world, where everything is been stored onsite, managed onsite. People outsource all the data to cloud and are free from the burden of storing it and managing it.

Though security breaching is a major issue. But to counter these issues there are researches going on which allows 98% of security in the cloud.

Again It is positive that the companies are moving to clouds because of the following reasons:-

1) Organisation demand automation today i.e to have less manpower which will lead to cut short the cost of organization.

2)In countries like India where start-ups are promoted heavily ;it is a boon to them as they don’t have enough finance to buy all the required infrastructure .Hence they can use the required things like utility and pay for them is win- win situation.

3) If employees of the companies are not technically efficient to handle all data and services ,the cloud become a far better option for them as they just have to upload and query the data ,rest all is handled by the loud providers.

4) The cloud provides its services in graveyard hours. Therefore to employee can sleep peacefully at home when something goes wrong

5) Apart from storage a service cloud also provides software as services, Platform as services and Infrastructure as a service too.

And even if hacking and security breaches are taking place Cloud Providers has also come up with option to have to kind of storage of client’s data:-

Provide two types of storages:-

1) Have a datacenter at site say a1;

2) Have offline backup storage at site b1;

So if breaching or hacking occurs even after applying all kind of security techniques, the unharmed data can be retrieved and can be made functional again.

So giving these many points which provide benefits and how cloud providers are tackling hacking and security breaches allows many companies to move towards cloud.
