Question
You own a very profitable and respectable company which manufactures video poker machines and standard slot machines in the State of Nevada. A bar in Connecticut calls your office and requests an order to put in slot machines and video poker in same establishment. After researching and discovering that slot machines and video poker gambling is legal in Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, both located in Connecticut, you approve the order. The merchandise is immediately sent by truck from your factory to bar’s location. Making good profit from this order, you invest to continue manufacturing more gambling machines for further sales. Is your business guilty of money laundering? Can either the States of Nevada or Connecticut, much less the Federal Government, on the presumed charge of money laundering, automatically search and seize your records regarding this order and the later consequential manufacture of other machines? Can they close your business after so many decades of successful work in Nevada? As per the US government laws in Nevada and Connecticut (considering Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun only), gambling is legal in these regions. Since I own the manufacturing facility in Nevada, I can legally produce the instruments for Gambling.
My Business cannot be considered guilty of money laundering as i don't directly involve in any transactions. Casino's and clubs purchase machines from me and they are the direct participants. Even they own legal rights to use such machines in their complexes.
Yes both states can pursume charges on me onlyif i sell machines to cregions that doesn't have the right to own a Casino. In current case, the machines are only sold to legalized areas for gambling.
Government cannot close my business with current sales. They can shut-down this business only if I engage in illegal sale of goods to non-legalized regions for gambling.
