Explanation / Answer
1.Describe the concept of “change request” in your own words. List down the activities performed by “Software Review Board” in the change request process.
A change request is a formal proposal for an alteration to some product or system.
In project management, a change request often arises when the client wants an addition or alteration to the agreed-upon deliverables for a project. Such a change may involve an additional feature or customization or an extension of service, among other things. Because change requests are beyond the scope of the agreement, they generally mean that the client will have to pay for the extra resources required to satisfy them.
The Software Review Board (SRB) must authorise all changes to the software.
The SRB should consist of people who have sufficient authority to resolve any problems with the software.
The software manager and software quality assurance engineer should always be members.
Users are normally members unless the software is part of a larger system. In this case the system manager is a member, and represents the interests of the whole system and the users.
The review board meetings are scheduled, co ordinated by the program managers, leaders or designated representative.
2.Explain the concept of Unified Change Management (UCM) in your own words. List and explain UCM roles and responsibilities for Rational ClearCase.
Unified Change Management (UCM) is Rational Software's approach to managing change in software system development, from requirements to release. UCM spans the development life cycle, defining how to manage change to requirements, design models, documentation, components, test cases, and source code.
3.Why is the Software Integration Strategy needed and what does it contain?
The strategy for software integration provides a road map that describes the steps to be conducted as part of the implementation of software to start integration activities. When a strategy is planned, then resources are required. This strategy should be flexible and promote an approach that could show change. Sometimes, planning by senior, program and project managers need to track program and project progress and require the following characteristics:
Thus Software Integration Strategy is needed.
4.Explain about the “Bam Theory”.
The "Bam Theory" approach is to attempt non-scheduled software integration and testing. This approach is performed in the following four steps:
