Question

A _____ protocol is a protocol in which each workstation takes a turn at transmission, and the turns are uniformly distributed over all workstations. a. round-robin b. CSMA/CD c. CSMA/CA d. CSMA/CT If a receiver has just received one packet of data with bytes numbered 600 to 700, it will respond immediately with _____. a. an ACK of 700 b. an ACK of 701 c. an ACK of 800 d. it will not respond just yet The _____ sublayer is responsible for logical addressing and providing error control and flow control information. a. medium access control (MAC) b. physical access control (PAC) c. medium physical control (MPC) d. logical link control (LLC) A _____ system transmits 10-Mbps baseband (digital) signals over twisted pair for a maximum of 100 meters per segment length. a. 1 Base5 b. 10Broad36 c. 10BaseT d. 100BaseTX _____ was the standard created for fiber-optic systems. a. 1Base5 b. 10BaseTX c. 100BaseTX d. 100BaseFX _____ area networks can cover large geographic distances, including the entire Earth c. Wide d. Universal The most popular based protocol is _____. token ring

Explanation / Answer

38. a. round robin

If multiple workstations are waiting to transmit data, each workstation will have to wait until its turn comes    around. The advantage is that each workstation must get a turn and cannot be forced out by another workstation that preoccupies the communications channel.

As per the token passing protocol before a workstation can transmit, it must possess the token. Once the transmission is complete, the workstation releases the token to the next workstation, in round robin order.

39. b. an ACK of 701

Suppose a data packet having byte numbered 600 to 700 sent to the receiver through the internet , After receiving those packets coming from sender, receiver sent an ACK to the sender for successful transmission with this immediate controlled packet i.e ACK which will be the next byte numbered 701.That means byte up according to the sequence no with transmission.

40. d. logical link control LLC

The Logical Link Control (LLC) data communication protocol layer is the upper sub-layer of the Data Link Layer in the seven-layer OSI model.

41. c. 10Base T

43. c . wide area network

wide area network can cover large geographical distance.

44. The options are not clearly identified but I think the answer will be token passing protocol if it is given in the option.
