The overall theme or concept had three parts that are synergetic with each other diversity, ethics, and social responsibility. These three principles of the modern company are essential for having a successful outcome in business on the global economy. Minorities and women are not well represented in the executive management levels in companies. Companies must have integrity and a “Do the right thing Attitude. ”

Explanation / Answer

The course explained in detail the three important principles on a standalone basis first and then their mutual effect on each other and in the end a coherent, synergetic effect on the whole organization. This is even more important in the context of the modern economy as in the modern economy we have cut throat competition and there could be propensity to jump on short-cuts bypassing ethical ways.

The mention of minorities and women not being represented enough reflects to the inadequate diversity in executive management levels which should be a concern for the organizations as it devoids the firm from the opportunity of being represented with the opinions of all sections of the society.

The mention of integrity refers to the fact that companies should stick to ethical means in all circumstances even under instances off dwindling profit, market share etc. Because unethical means would turn out to be more harmful in the long run.

The most significant concept that I learnt was the roles and responsibilities that an organization and thus the top executives need to shoulder. Also the structure of businesses was elaborated in details and thus helped me to understand the businesses and their Org structures. It will help me in my other follow-on courses which would delve deeper into the business structures and the roles and responsibilities of management.
