a) According to the shortest processing time rule the jobs are sequenced in order of the processing time from shortest to longest. This means the job with the shortest processing time is scheduled first in the sequence and the job with the longest processing time is scheduled last in the sequence. So according to this rule the sequence is S-R-T-U with the processing time of 2,3,4,5 respectively.

b) According to the earliest due date rule the jobs are sequenced according to the due date from earliest to latest. This means the job with the earliest due date is scheduled first in the sequence and the job with the latest due date is scheduled last in the sequence. So according to this rule the sequence is S-R-U-T with the due date of 4,7,9,15 respectively

C) Flow time is the cumulative Sum of the processing time of the jobs according to the sequence. So the flow time for jobs according to the shortest processing time rule is :

Average flow time = Sum of the flow time for each job / number of jobs

= (2+5+9+14) / 4
