According to Critical Ratio rule, which job would be the next job to be processed?

Explanation / Answer

Solution :

A) First come first serve :

According to first come first serve, the process which arrived first will go next.

but here at 0 time all 5 processes were arrived and no other information regarding arriving time is given so lets assume that all processes arrived at 0 time.

In that case processes will go in this order : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

2) Earliest due date first :

Job which has least due date will go first.

order of earliest due date first : 5, 2, 3, 4, 1

3) Longesr process time first :

Job with largest process time will be executed first .

Order of jobs : 4, 3, 5, 2, 1

4) Critical ratio rule :

critical ratio = due time/ process time

job with least critical ratio will be excuted first :

critical ratio of each job :

1- 7.14

2- 2

3- 1.81

4- 1.25

5- 1.19

hence , order of job : 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
