Explanation / Answer

If we look at the case provided in the questions, I would not accept the terms proposed by the purchase manager. The logic is based on the professional ethics. His kid of favor which is required by the purchase manager is not ethical as the business decisions must be based on the professional factors such as quality of the products, the terms, and conditions of purchase rather than the personal or in-kind favors. The basis governing principles for the purchase manager should be the profitability and interests of his organization rather than the decisions based on the favors from the other organization to the youth club.

Despite having this knowledge that it is a huge and it can results in future business too but first the amount of charity is not a small one. It would costs the firm a sum of $20,000 so if we look at the economic aspects too, the firm has to decide how it will accommodate this charity of $20,000 in the profits or sales quotation. If this is included in the sales price, then the order price will be increased by $20,000 and it would affect the future sales as the other competitors can bid for lower sales prices. Thus looking at the present and future economic and business perspectives too, the decision does not seem to be an economically profitable one.

Apart from this, if this is done for the first time, there could be some other types of expectations from the purchase manager in future too and it could be seen as a bribe to receive the purchase orders from this company.

Thus looking at both the ethical and economic dimensions of the case, I would humbly reject the proposal made by the purchase manager and ask him to decide purely on the professional grounds.

I REQUEST YOU TO KINDLY RATE THE ANSWER AS THUMBS UP. THANKS A LOT.
