Social mobility can be seen as the movement of individuals, families, households, or other group of individuals within to among the different social strata in a certain society. It can be treated as a change or transition in the social status with respect to the other social location within a certain society. There is a very strong correlation between the mobility and segregation, income inequality, education, social capital, and family structure.

We can see the inter-generational upward mobility quite commonly in which the children or grandchildren have better economic circumstances in comparison to their parents or grandparents.

This upward social mobility is mainly facilitated by the education and it enables the individuals to attain higher better social class and attaining a higher social status, regardless of current social standing in the overall structure of society
