Question

Let’s discuss a scenario to also clearly understand the difference between “Analysis and Modeling techniques vs. Object-Oriented Methodology.

Elena Foster and Tim Jones are systems analysts in the IT department of “Vacation Deals” travel agency that specializes in business travel. Jones has decided to expand into the vacation travel market by launching a new business division called Vacation Fun.

The IT director assigned Elena and Tim to create a flexible, efficient information system for the new division. Elena wants to use traditional analysis and modeling techniques for the project. Tim, on the other hand, wants to use an object-oriented methodology.Which approach would you suggest and why?

Explanation / Answer

I would suggest to use the traditional analysis and modelling techniques as traditional models cover almost everything from the collection of data to the planning to the implementation. Traditional models are usually considered to be less expensive in comparison to the Object oriented ones as they Need more time than Traditional approach and leads that to more cost. As the company is already in the travelling department so there need not be a great study of data required. They are already aware of what things to be taken care in mind in Travelling Plans. They just need to have a proper management plan which can handle the responses from both the firms. For that traditional system is sufficient as there is nothing much new required to be implemented.
