Question
Identify the type of research design interactive game. Below is a list of several research studies. Identify the type of design being used.
A study investigating whether a new teaching intervention improves writing scores on a state-administered standardized test. The study uses two fourth grade classrooms at a local elementary school. One class is the program group, and the other is the control group. (NEGD)
A study investigates whether a new teaching intervention improves writing scores on a state-administered standardized test. Last year’s scores on the standardized tests are used to assign students at a local elementary school to either the program group or the control group. Those students who scored lowest are assigned to the program group. (RD)
A study investigates whether a new teaching intervention improves writing scores on a state-administered standardized test. Two classrooms in a local elementary school are used in the study. One is given the program, and the other does not. Both groups are pretested twice. At the end of the year, the groups are tested a third time. (The double pretest design).
Explanation / Answer
The first one is the correlational type of research design type and also it comes under the subtype of observational study. Because in this only we seperate the people into groups like one for programs and other for controlling so that the study will goes effectively because of which the groups can do their respective works.
The second one comes under descriptive type and the subtype of case study as in this we take the previous reports into consideration and do the things based on that analysis.
Tye third one comes under semi experimental because in this we are just dividing the groups and by giving program to one and without anything to other by doing this at the end of the year we are just analysing the results which is nothing but the experimenting.
