Explanation / Answer

1-1 The major challenges societies are facing:
1. Pollution: Usage of fossil fuels resulting in high pollution that leads to global warming that is a major issue faced by humanity today.
2. Overpopulation: The world's population is increasing day by day. Hence this results in shrinking of resources like food, water, housing etc.
This also leads to unemployment globally, another challange society is facing.
3. Faster technology development: This is very dangerous and harmful to humanity. We are able to develop more destructive weapons faster and cheaper
and it would be very easy to get in terrorists hands and other criminal organisations hands

searching, analyzing, organizing, programming, distributing, or anything for contributing to the transformation
of information. The term knowledge worker was coined by Peter Drucker in 1957.

1-3 My favorite mobile devices are Xperia series of Sony and Samsung Galaxy series.
First and foremost both are based on android operating system that is easy to handle and very user friendly.
It has a great influence in our both personal and work lives. We can easily share data over both phones by using Whatsapp application.
We can easily check our important and urgent emails over these devices that helps in taking decesions at right time.
We can even entertain ourselves by listening music, playing games and watching movies.
Nowadays, mobile devices are mandatory part in our lives and very beneficial too.

1-4 Cloud computing can improve our personal productivity by:
1) Safe and Secure
Many companies are moving over to the cloud that keeps IT operations
under strict control in-house, is a safer solution. However, moving to the cloud results in giving up some control over your data.
It is like that a third party firm will look after your information more securely than you could.

2) . More Efficient Collaboration
Cloud computing allows you to work anytime, anywhere. For many small businesses, the ability to share
data seamlessly and work on projects together from distances. Due to cloud computing, workers can work from across the country and check the work being accomplished in real time.
Employees are becoming more productive and efficient due to this functionality.

3) More Disaster Resistant
Losing important information due to a fire or some other natural disaster happened at your business premises can devastate your business.
But with the availability of cloud computing, it is now not a huge problem for any business.

1-5 The major challenges are as follows:

1) To ensure that the globalization benefits extend to all the countries.

2) To deal with the factor that globalization leads to instability, which is specifically marked in the developing world.

3) To deal with the real fear that global competition is increasing very much in the industrial world that will lead to the bottom in wages,
labor rights, employment practices and the environment.

1-6
A digital divide is an economic and social inequality with respect to access to or use of
data and communication technologies. The divide within countries (such as the digital divide)
refer to inequalities between individuals, businesses, or geographic areas
at different demographic categories. The divide between different countries or
regions of the world is basically the global digital divide, interrogating this technological gap between developing
and developed countries on an international scale.

The digital divide in Canada refers to the inconsistency that exists between Canadians that can access to information and
communication technologies. This divide can be the consequence
of many factors including huge costs for technology and online access.
The digital divide in Canada also leads to income inequality among Canadians based on The digital divide in the United States refers to inequalities between individuals,
households, and other groups.
And also the knowledge and skills that refer to effectively use the data gained from connecting.
The global digital divide refers to inconsistencies in access, knowledge, and skills, but designates countries as analysis unit and
examines the divide between developing and developed countries on an global scale.
different age, gender etc.

1-7 Define and contrast data, information, and knowledge.
Ans) Data: It is facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis. It can range from a sinlge piece of statement to a big piece of rockor any evidence. It may be also depicted as facts of the world. Data , in other words can also be known as a raw facts which we can perceive this data with senses, and then the brain can process it.

Information: Any piece of raw data after processing when delivers some meaning precisely about something is known as Information. Information allows us to expand our knowledge beyond the range of our senses. We can capture data in information, then move it about so that other people can access it at different times.

Knowledge: Knowledge is a familiarity, awareness, or understanding of someone or something, such as facts, information, descriptions, or skills, which is gained through experience or education by observing, discovering, or learning. Knowledge is what we know. Think of this as the map of the World we build inside our brains. Like a physical map, it helps us know where things are – but it contains more than that. It also contains our beliefs and expectations. If I do this, I will probably get that. Crucially, the brain links all these things together into a giant network of ideas, memories, predictions, beliefs, etc.

1-8 Describe three or four types of jobs and career opportunities in information systems and in related fields.
Ans) There are 4 fastest growing jobs and career opportunities in Information system:
a) Mobile Application Developer: It is one of the world most demandedand fastest growing IT careers. As mobile devices are in trend, the need to operate them, to develop application for the mobile devices is increased. Therefore, increasing the demand of Mobile Application Developer. This group holds an average salary of about 94,000 USD.

b) Database Administrator: As industries continue to grow, they require huge amount of data to be stored in digital information. For this, a vast and enourmous amount of database administrators are required in order to store the data and maintain it over a specific storage location, be it either cloud storage or a physical server. As data is stored over a location, there stands a potential threat to protect data from being hacked or stolen. So, these Database Administrators are provided with information security training, in order to scure the data from being hacked. This group holds an average salary of about 82,000 USD.

c) Software Engineers/Developers: As the industries tend to utilise more from technological advancements, then there emerges a huge increase to hire Software Developers. (d) Problem solving-Information gathering and synthesis, problem identification,

1-10 List and define five types of information systems used in organizations.
Ans) The five types of information system used in organization are:
a) Decision Support System: It helps make decision by working and analysing data that can generate statistical projections and data models. This system gives support rather than replacing managers judgement while improving the quality of managers decision. It helps solves problems while using external data.
b) Transaction Process Systems: It provides a way to collect, process, store, display modify or cancel transactions. Most of these systems allow multiple transactions to take place simultaneously. The data that this systems collect is usually stored in database which can be used to produce report such as billing, wages, inventory summaries, etc
c) Information Systems in Organizations: It collects, stores and process data to give an organization real time useful and accurate information. This system encompasses data gathering information from people and machines that collects, process, output and store data. Also in network that transmit and receive data and procedures that govern the way data is handled.
d) Management Information Systems: This information system that uses data collected by the transaction processing systems and uses this data to create reports in a way that managers can use it to make routine business decisions in response to problem. Some of the report that is information system creates a summary, exception and adhoc reports . All this is done to increase the efficiency of managerial activity.
e) Expert System and Neural Network: An expert system, also known as Knowedgebase system, is a computer system that is designed to analyze data and produce recommendation, diagnosis and decisions that are controlled.

1-11 Discuss the issues surrounding information privacy, and how you can protest yourself.
