1. A story that would hook players is one in which first, we connect the players to the characters that they are playing in the game. We can either use sympathy or use characters that the players can relate to. A story that would hook players is:
In the game, the character to be played is a middle aged man, who is a tough guy but has a soft side when it comes to his family. He gets nightmares of a drunken but a fun night in which he reminisces and regrets something at the same time. The nightmare turns out to be a real incident that took place in his life that still haunts him every night. The incident is as follows- He was driving from an ice cream shopp to his home with his neice. But because he was a tough guy and had a habit of getting involved with the wrong people, when he was returning, two people came in a bike, to take revenge from him for something that he had done. They missed their shot and killed his neice instead, who he loved more than his life. He could never face his sister again and his life was never the same again. His only purpose in life became to find the killer behind and avenge his neice. This story uses sympathy and would intrigue the player.

2. In the story, eventually, the killer gets to know somehow that the main character is hunting for him and in an effort to stop him, he kidnaps his sister. This causes for his sister to get really angry with him since she believes that it is because of his underworld connections that her life is ruined in every way possible. Since, people will have connected with the story till now a lot, they would actually feel very hooked with the story and will be able to feel the love and the rage of the sister. The story ends with him eventually getting his revenge, but in the process, he will have lost his sister too. The main character, at the end realises that instead of letting things go and mending his ways so that he could return to a normal life, he chose the wrong way and got his revenge but lost his loving sister as well as so much time of his life in the process.

3. Stories that have mystery, thrill, action and stories that players can relate to generally make players immersed in gameplay. The stories should go at a good pace and they should never be boring or predictable. The right amounts of unpredictable turns is what makes a story intriguing.
