Explanation / Answer
Blue-collar job is a type of job, which specifically targets skilled or unskilled people working in manufacturing, mining, sanitation, oil field work, construction, mechanic, maintenance, warehousing firefighting etc.
There are over 3 million job seekers who are searching for a blue-collar job. But since the amount of job opening is very less they are sitting idle.
For blue-collared job seekers finding and getting a job is challenging. They heavily rely on their sources for referrals or agents who in exchange for money will help the job seekers find and get a job.
These job seekers also spent significant amount of money travelling and finding jobs at offices, sites, factory etc.
For employers also, they do not have a structured system of hiring blue collar level people.
Hence, there is a huge problem for the job seekers as well as the employers.
There is a huge gap between these two parties.
Development of an online job portal which specifically targets the blue-collar job seekers and blue collar employers can bridge this gap in between them.
As per current studies, there are about 2.5 million blue-collared job seekers who are paying agents significant amounts of money to get a job.
In 2016, many companies’ organized more than 25 job fairs in 20 cities, which saw participation from over 25,000 jobseekers and 165 companies. Only 7,500 candidates got job opportunities.
Using a job portal, we can connect over 10,000 employers who can then post on an average of 1, 50,000 job opportunities, in the portal. There by providing more than 1, 00,000 jobseekers finding the right jobs using this service.
Research is needed to find trends of job searching, in which location people are inclined to which category of job, in which location a category of job is more.
In terms of technology, the platform should focus on automation of analytics and predictive analysis to achieve this.
The purpose of this study is to integrate and solve the issues of finding a blue-collar job into one single job portal.
The gap of 10,000 employers and 1,50,000 job seekers can be bridged theough this portal, the scope is immense, it can open up new opportunities to the job seekers as well as to the employers,
The job seekers would be now able to search through all the jobs and find one that suites them, and accordingly apply for it.
As for the employers, they can filter out the best candidates as per their job category and experience they have.
