Following are the three real life examples for Error checking and error correcting :
1. Computer memories : computer memories uses hamming code for Error correction.
2. Sending messages over noisy channels / photography: error correcting codes can be used to send messages over the noisy channels. The message which is encoded and transmitted through the channel might get corrupted due to the noise. So these error check codes van detect those alterations. Similarly even in photography, the images can get corrupted due to transmission. The error correcting code can correct the binary bits.
3. Internet :
In TCP/ IP protocol there are error correcting codes at multiple levels. It uses a concept of checksum. This checksum is a part of the header. It covers payload and addressing information.
